Still no baby...

It's been a pretty quiet weekend around here... I'm pretty excited to meet this little guy or gal and guess I'm a little more anxious since I mistakenly assumed we would have had a baby a month ago!

So I've been doing lots of walking and looked up all the tricks to inducing labor naturally on the internet. Since Friday, Brian and I have tried all the tricks other than castor oil and since we're just a few days away from our due date, I've decided I'm not quite that desperate just yet!

Spicy foods, pineapple, fig newtons, pedicure, prenatal massage, accupressure, walking, cleaning the house... I've tried it! Still no baby, but even without all of that, the baby is coming sooner than later at this point!

Keep you all posted - hopefully SOONER than later.

Miscellaneous Update

Well, looks like we are going all the way with # 3 - just a week left until our official due date! Whodathunkit?!? Other than feeling VERY LARGE, overall I feel really good. I was kind of out of sorts over the weekend, so went to the dr yesterday morning and she just told me it was typical of pregnancy at this stage... that I've just never gotten to this stage! So, we continue to wait to meet little Baby Higgins.

While I wasn't feeling so great, Annie came up to get the kids for a day or two, but then she tricked me. She said since it's only a week left, they could just stay with her, so that when it's time we can get in the car and go and not be worried about where the kids will go. Not a bad idea at this point, since all signs are pointing to a very fast delivery... although I'm wondering if the size of this baby will slow things down any.

So the kids went back to "school" at Ms. Virginia's yesterday with Ava James and had a great time. I was happy to hear Lalon did great and didn't get upset this time. Ms. Virginia told Christie that when she said she was going to fix lunch, Lalon ran to the table to eat... Ms. V just laughed and told Lalon to give her a minute to get it ready! You wouldn't believe how much that little girl can eat these days!

Hopefully we'll have something to report soon, but since we've made it through a full moon, contractions, spicy foods and lots of walks, I'm starting to think it won't be anytime before next week!

38 weeks and counting...

Just got back from the doctor - another fine report. Have had contractions over the past 2 weeks, but nothing worth going to the hospital over, sporadic and not very intense... however, has been working, now 3 cm dilated and the baby is very low. I asked the dr to guess how big baby is and she's saying in the 7 lb range +/-.

Tomorrow is a full moon - maybe that will get baby going!! Still feeling great though, no complaints other than ready to meet little one!

Happy Valentine's Day!

My smiling, happy Lalon.

My sweet Naylor with his Daddy.

Thanks Valentine's Rooster!

The Valentine's Rooster visited last night (he's a distant cousin of the Easter Bunny; not quite as well known though).

He brought the kids a few fun treats: a cow and a pig that poop candy (I just thought that was the funniest), bubbles, a small truck and tractor, and some of those foam pills that turn into stuff when dropped in water. Oh, and each a Valentine's Day shirt - # 3 got an outfit too, but we'll just have to wait and see when he / she will get to wear it!

Here are a few pics of our Valentines... love you all!

37 1/2 weeks

Furthest we've ever gotten... and the belly is in full effect! This was after our trip to the circus.

Circus Adventure

Naylor and Lalon waiting for the show to start!

I had really been hoping to take Naylor to the circus this year, but then between bed rest and early deliveries in the past, I had made the assumption that we'd have a baby and dismissed the idea. Well today was the last day, so we made a last minute decision at lunch to take the kids - our last little adventure as a family of 4!

They both had a fun time, but Lalon was really getting into it! She danced and clapped and yelled almost the entire time. During intermission she walked up and down the aisle and made best friends with this older Hispanic lady who at one point had Lalon in her lap, giving her kisses on her head - I think they both wanted to go home with the other!

Here's a cute picture of the kids waiting for the show to start and then a video of Lalon enjoying herself. I'm so glad we decided to go - definitely a great memory! Maybe the excitement got the baby wanting to join in on the fun too... after each "event" we went to with the others, the baby came pretty quickly. Naylor was born the morning after the Yo-Yo Ma concert we went to and Lalon came 2 days after we took Naylor to the NC State Fair!
